LEATHER CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Ava Equestrian uses the highest quality English leather for our products so with correct care these products will last you a life time.
To maximise the lifespan of your product, please follow the care instructions below.
Upon receiving your product, check the fit before use. Do not fasten the buckles at this stage, as doing so may mark the leather. Instead, thread the straps through the keepers only, in case an exchange is required. Once you are satisfied with the fit, complete the following steps before riding.
Apply a quality leather cream to nourish and moisturise the leather. Pay particular attention to the headpiece of your bridle and ensure it is thoroughly conditioned.
For the first two weeks of use, apply leather cream 2–3 times per week to help lubricate and soften the leather fibres.
Once the leather is soft and well conditioned, ongoing maintenance should be minimal. Occasional conditioning every 1–2 months is recommended.
Before conditioning, wipe your product with a damp cloth to ensure all the dust, dirt and sweat is removed before applying the leather cream.
If the leather appears cracked or creased, this indicates insufficient conditioning or that the bridle was not adequately prepared before use.
Patent leather should be cleaned using a very small amount of petroleum jelly.
White padding can be cleaned with a small amount of warm soapy water.
